Review at our Hall of Game!

The 2025-26 school year was very fulfilling with my students achieving national recognition in my fourth year instructing the Gaming & Sim Program at AACPS’s CAT South.

Academic highlights was the growth of the Internship program which allowed for seniors to help instruct my Level 2 students (mostly Juniors) and provide leadership for SkillsUSA competitions. CAT-South fielded two game development teams who competed at 53rd Maryland’s SkillsUSA. Team “Deal Me In!”, Katelyn Smith and Khaleil Pirmohamed, brought home the Gold! which allowed them to compete at the national level. In Atlanta, at the SkillsUSA Nationals, they placed 10th place out of 25 game development teams. I am very proud of their hard work and being such good role models to the other students.

The CAT South program focuses on developing solid portfolios that help with college scholarships and career goals. Besides working in Unity to develop 2D Platformer-style games, we focus on digital graphics skills, world building and branding/marketing know-how. If this sounds like something you or your student would be interested in, then contact your AACPS councilor to learn more about the Gaming & Sim program offered at CAT South.

I will not be returning to the program in 2026-27 School year but I am working closely with Instructor Chris Jacob and will be on the Professional Advisor Council (PAC) to help support this excellent program and the student glide path into the AACC’s Game Development Program.
