This opera, composed by Ruggero Leoncavallo, is about the quintessential sad clown, Pagliacci. A love-triangle story in which the jealous Pagliacci stabs his cheating wife to death while on stage during their performance (a play within a play). In his grief, he declares, "La Commedia è finita!" ... "The play is over!".
